TYSON LISKE--"SCHEMING AND DREAMING"!

President Jeff welcomed everyone to Eastview and gave the Land Acknowledgement.  He then introduced Tyson Liske as a person dedicated to people, events and the prairies.  He has had previous employment including as a 911 dispatcher but is now into building new things and bringing people together.  He aims to make Regina an even better place.
Tyson indicates he spends time 'scheming and dreaming' and asking the question what can we do, how do we bring together the passion in people, realize the opportunities that are before us to make Regina better and improve life for its citizens.  It is important to find the people and projects that resonate with each other.  Regina is changing.  People are coming here from all over the world.  We want to be a welcoming city.  We need to spread the good word about Regina, collect and tell our stories of life in our urban setting.  How do we focus on building our city and in the process consider repurposing old buildings instead of tearing them down and rebuilding?  Healing needs to be a focus in our journey forward.  It is slowly starting today with reconciliation.  There is great potential between a non-profit melding with a private organization-- to help support people on the front lines.  Aligning people with their passions and re-imagining existing plans will be key factors in moving forward.
Thank you Tyson for your presentation.  You have given us much food for thought.  Thank you for visiting Eastview.  You are always welcome to return.

Tyson Liske--a force for change.
This past weekend the District 5550 hybrid conference was held in Saskatoon. The agenda included hands on projects throughout the city; the Shelterbox display; presentations on significant projects from 3 clubs which were impressive; a Citizenship Ceremony -- where we were witness to 25 new Canadians being welcomed as Canadian citizens; the House of ImaginAction; special evening dinners; and 5 learning and development presentations. Congratulations to the conference organizers.
Deb and Gordon LeMaistre were  recognized at the Rotary District Conference, for having been awarded the 2022 Rotary International Donald MacRae Peace Award on October 26, 2022.  Candidates for this award have demonstrated the advancement of international goodwill, understanding and peace through peace-making efforts or humanitarian activity of Inter-national significance.  Gord and Deb are two very worth recipients.  Congratulations to you both.
