Moments after 12 Noon President Al Hoeft gonged the Bell and attendees knew it was time to "gather", and we were ready. Following the President's welcome, guests were invited to introduce themselves, which they did with class. Allen Hillsden was called on to lead in our National Anthem which was followed by the President's Land Acknowledgement and commitment to the process of Truth and Reconciliation.
Following President Al's Invocation, he provided the order of how on-site attendees would access the buffet table line. Someone will always be first, and some will always be last - someone recalled there is a day when this has the potential to change. The buffet table content appeared to address the hope and aspirations of the "last" people.
Today's program was a combination of Fellowship and Planning. Fellowship, of course commences when one enters a Rotary room, and so it was today and it continued in the walk through buffet line, the dining process. Having satisfied the need for sustenance, President Al distributed a list of instructions to each table where he selected a leader/recorder who would stick-handle the conversation which addressed specific questions which included:
How long have you been in Rotary?
Why did you join Rotary?
What keeps you in Rotary?
What was a highlight (high point) for you in Rotary?
What do we see as challenges to Rotary?
The question Alice In Wonderland raised with the Cat, "Where to from here?", will be relevant to each Rotary Club in Regina and Rotary in Regina
President Al collected the shared wisdom sheets completed by each of the tables which will become fodder for future discussion and action.
Thank you all for being part of this important conversation.

WHO grants a key approval to the innovative polio vaccine nOPV2
Countries will soon have easier access to the novel oral polio vaccine type 2, also known as nOPV2, a crucial new tool for stopping outbreaks caused by variant poliovirus. The World Health Organization made this possible by issuing a key approval for nOPV2 in December. This is the first approval of its kind for a vaccine being used under the WHO’s Emergency Use Listing.
World Health Organization Approval
Key Checkmark
With nearly 1 billion doses administered already, this next-generation vaccine will continue to play an important role in tackling type 2 circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus, also known as type 2 variant poliovirus, and in protecting millions of children against illness and paralysis.
We learned from Gary Carlson that he and Jessie became first-time Great Grandparents this morning - CONGRATULATIONS, and best wishes to the whole Carlson Family;

Rotary Club of Regina Members Supported By Nigerian & Calgary West Rotarians
FELLOWSHIP HIGHLIGHTS
Rotary in Action with an international flavour as we dined with Rotarians from as far away as Calgary and even Nigeria;
Sergeant John Van Koll visited a Calgary Club and thought he would use there Sergeant-At-Arms approach to making money at Eastview - story telling was good, income making "not so much" - In Eastview, the challenge might be controlling story time length;
The talented Sasha Sadzamare in her introduction said her grandfather brought her to Rotary. "To show me the joys and fundamentals of Rotary". She then went on to observe. When I hear the world of Rotary, I instantly think of peace unity and togetherness.”
The young lady is Rotary Youth Exchange in the making, and I imagine Grandfather Charles is seeing Sasha as a Rotary Peace Scholar - the world needs this kind of talent and energy;
Have a wonder week, see you on ZOOM in a week.

Today's guests
In addition to the fine Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Regina, we were delighted to welcome members of Rotary from Nigeria, Oyiboka George and Sephina Pinder, and Bill Fitzsimmons from Calgary West, in addition to Charles Sadzamare's Granddaughter, Sasha Sadzamare.
According to the Chronicle Journal, with more than 1.4 million members Rotary is the world’s oldest and largest service Club, “…who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change in our communities and in ourselves”.
Proud to be a Rotarian, and honoured to be a member of Regina Eastview. (PHP)
