VALENTINE'S DAY GALA 2020

The stars lined up in 2020 so Regina Eastview's Annual Friday Evening Valentine GALA, and the 14th of February fell on the same day. Actually, this also occurred in 2014, in 2003 and will happen again in 2025. The Club was delighted to welcome the 240 plus people who joined together to celebrate this most romantic evening of the year. This was a time to party, and in the process, raise funds to enhance the lives of people less fortunate in the Regina community and around the world.
Past President of Regina Eastview, Richard Schwan, was the event's Master of Ceremonies. Having been coached by his partner Sharon, not to exaggerate his self-appreciated talents, but to just be himself, Richard made his Club colleagues proud.
The Event Setting in the Delta Regina
In his opening comments, MC Richard acknowledged the importance of this major fund raising event for Regina Eastview. He spoke about how the resources raised impacted the well-being of beneficiaries over the past year and how being in attendance today was making a difference in the lives of our neighbours. Beneficiaries in both the Regina community and around the world are whispering a "thank you" for caring - from the Canadian Mental Health Association Regina Branch clients and Chili for Children recipients locally, to the Guatemalan children, their families and communities through the Ripple Effect Program and the families sheltered through the work of ShelterBox Canada, after their homes were devastated by natural disasters or conflict. He stressed all of these things were made possible because of individual donations and major sponsor contributions.
MC Richard called on President Jack Wozniak to express Regina Eastview's appreciation the major corporate sponsors. President Jack observed that when the  Club reviews the success of this fundraising event, "It will be recognized that it was so because each of you came".
He began by recognizing in-kind sponsors PSAV; H J Linnen; Rawlco Radio; and, Cornerstone Dance Band. He then thanked the Game Sponsors Lane Realty; Western Surety Company; and, Westridge Construction. He was delighted to acknowledge the two Bronze Sponsors, which included Sun Life Financial; and, Knight Archer Insurance. Finally, he called on the Event's Exclusive Title Sponsor Affinity Credit Union representative, Randy Melnychuk, Affinity's Advice Centre Manager.
Affinity Credit Union's Randy Melnychuk
Randy Melnychuk, expressed Affinity’s honor to be part of this important fund raising event. He drew important and appreciated analogies between their corporation and Rotary. He observed the principles of being open, honest, inclusive and committed, were values we shared. It appeared to me that there was little wonder our Club’s Past President found this an acceptable career home. The commitment to membership, to the needs of one’s customers, the value of partnerships, being a support to the less fortunate and pooling resources to enhance the wellbeing of all, had a most definite and appreciated Rotary “Ring”.
Thank you, Randy Melnychuk, for your thoughtful message.
From this point forward there was a "Superb Dining with fabulous fellowship; Roving Violinist Asta, Roving Reporter, Lisa; a Live Auction; Silent Auction opportunities; Games and prizes; and, Dancing. It was a Valentine's Party.
