ANNOUNCEMENTS
On Monday, April 13, 2026, the Regina Club will host an in person meeting.
April 23 will be the next Eastview Zoom meeting at noon.
The Board meeting will be held April 15 5-00pm.
April 30 the Spring Fling will be held. A poster will follow in the next day or two. Deadline for tickets is April 23. Silent auction items appreciated.
President Jayna welcomed everyone to the meeting and following the Land Acknowledgement gave a special welcome to President of the Rotary Foundation, Canada, Eva Vida. G. Bradley introduced Eva, guest speaker for the meeting today.
Eva Vida retired in December 2021 from her role as financial planner, and now works as a Returning Officer for Elections Canada. A Rotarian since 1992, she is a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Winnipeg. Eva is President of The Rotary Foundation Canada, and Past Chair of World Community Service Foundation in D5550.

Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator for Zone 24 West 2017-2020
General Chair of the Rotary Zone Institute Zones 24-32 for 2016.
RI President's Representative to District 5240 in October 2016
Team leader for a Vocational Training Team to Guatemala in February 2017 and
District governor in D5550 in 2011-12. Eva is a Major Donor, Rotary Foundation Benefactor and a Paul Harris Society member.
Eva immigrated to Canada from Hungary. She has a daughter and son and 3 grandchildren, all living in Winnipeg. Granddaughter Sara is currently on a 1-year Rotary Youth exchange program in Norway. She enjoys gardening, camping and long -distance cycling, and has completed the Multiple Sclerosis 170 km ride a number of times.
Eva is well known to Eastview members. Many of the long time members appreciate Eva for her leadership,accomplishments and inspiration. Eva credits the members for their teamwork. The Rotary Foundation is a not-for-profit organization supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotary members and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better wold. The Foundation was started in 1917 by Arch Klumpf with a $26.50 donation. The Rotary Foundation continues to far exceed the standards set by independent charity-rating services like Charity Navigator which has granted the Rotarty Foundation 17 consecutive four-star ratings.
In the 2024-25 Rotary year, the Rotary Foundation was able to provide $81 million in global grants because of generous donors. Every Rotarian, Every year who gives $25--$50 contributed more than $5.1 million to the Foundation. 34% of Rotarians donate to the Annual Fund, while 82% of clubs support the Foundation. The Foundation provides opportunity to leverage fundraising. It provides support to local clubs and international clubs. Reputation and stewardship provide greater recognition from donors such as the Gates Foundation, World Health Organization and others. The Foundation continues to search for like donors. Such funds enable Rotary clubs to do good at a grand scale.
Rotary International monitors the current political situation daily and works to ensure the Rotary Foundation is safe and secure. The Rotary Foundation Canada is the first associate Foundation. All funds contributed in Canada are kept in Canadian banking institutions and invesrments are managed by Canadian sources. The Grade 8 moccasin project at Mother Teresa Middle School (MTMS) is a deeply meaningful cultural and relational experience, guided by the skilled knowledge keepers and artists of the Buffalo People Arts Institute. Through this hands-on beading and moccasin-making process, students learn traditional techniques rooted in Indigenous history, where beadwork is not only artistic expression but a storytelling practice that reflects identity, community, and care.
With the support of Rotary Club of Regina Eastview, whose $2,500 contribution made the 2026 project possible, students create a pair of leather moccasins for a classmate. They learn how to measure, create a pattern, work with leather, and bead a custom design. In keeping with tradition, these are not kept, but gifted—presented during the Grade 8 promotion ceremony as a symbol of respect, connection, and the journey they have shared together.
The Rotary Club of Regina Eastview empowers MTMS graduates to walk forward in their culture as they leave middle school and enter the next phase of their educational journey.

President Jayna asked for happy bucks: Peter Peters responded that he was happy Eva was at our meeting. He referred to Eva as a statesperson and shining light. Peter Neufeldt remembered working with Eva on the training team and her wisdom in asking Bob Durston to take on the role of District 5550 Rotary Foundation Chair.
President Jayna noted that Eva's team would be a good one to belong to-- one can vision you there one day Jayna!!
