REGINA EASTVIEW'S APRIL FELLOWSHIP EVENT:
'IT'S A POT-LUCK'!

  Attending the 4th Fellowship Event in the year 2025, it is getting to feel like 'tradition'. This was a uniquely different event, in that we did not get served a meal, but rather we brought the food, it was 'Pot-Luck'. And as 'luck' would have it, it turned out really, really fine - actually it was special and the balance between traditional/authentic food and the more common, was delightful. Thank you all for making it a really good meal, and consistent quality fellowship. This was a gathering where formality was limited to an appropriate blessing on the food and fellowship, as both were enjoyed.
    Oba Fowosere, Chief Executive Officer of FSi Studio in Regina was the speaker for our evening’s Fellowship time. From the firm’s Website it was learned the Studio and its staff are in the business of, ‘WALKING IN YOUR SHOES TO TELL YOUR STORY.’ This slogan is attractive to any business looking for such an outcome. Their Website goes on to say, “FSi Studio is a digital media company that helps brands create identities, reinvent impressions, and manage perception through storytelling”. For years District 5550 Board has looked for ways to assist Clubs in our image building initiatives, and the current provision of a District grant is such an incentive. Oba Fowosere was invited to share with our Club an overview of how FSi’ Studio would go about creating our Club’s ‘story’. Based on the Club Directors review and evaluation of the information FSi Studio shares, a decision will be made on how to proceed.
    Oba had deck of slides that would have been of significant assistance in relaying the story to the eager eyes and ears. However, technology failed the system and our guest had to verbally interpret the slides to the audience. Jayna will circulate the slides to Club members upon receipt from Oba. In the meantime here are some of the things we learned.
  • The focus is to increase our visibility in the community – where are we now in this regard, where do we want to be, and how do we get there;
  • Creating a process for community engagement and developing a campaign where we tell our story;
  • Rotarians are people of action, so what is Rotary doing to reflect our action e.g. what is 'Impact Monday', 'Great Wednesday', 'Service Thursday', etc.;
  • Regina Eastview’s Facebook site has 1.8 K followers – Thanks to Ann Grahame -  loud applause - we need to play up this component;
  • Next Steps – i) Complete Media Audit; ii) Create a Campaign Plan; iii) Repurpose activities/actions/structures/ etc.
     There were a couple of questions: i) “How do we get more women involved?” It was suggested there are two approaches which can be incorporated simultaneously – push from the outside, and pull from the inside; ii) “What is the Media Audit?” This is about who is looking at our media footprint – who is included in this demographic and how is it determined (there are ways of finding out these things).

Thank you, Aba Fowosere, for enlightening us on image possibilities,
thereby creating dreams for our future.

WORLD IMMUNIZATION WEEK - APRIL 24-30, 2025

"2025 has been a challenging year for global health. The loss of funding for vital aid and immunization programs threatens the well-being of communities around the world. So far this year, the United States has reported 7 measles outbreaks, with 97% of cases being among those who are unvaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status. Even in Canada, measles outbreaks are growing and spreading between provinces.
At IBI, we’re using World Immunization Week as a moment to reaffirm our commitment to global health and stand in solidarity with the efforts to protect and expand access to life-saving vaccines. We have exciting new quizzes on the site for you to take and earn life-saving vaccines for UNICEF. Challenge yourself to beat the average score on these quizzes to earn a vaccine!"

Peace of mind isn’t life feeling easy – it is knowing you can cope regardless of what shows up in your life.”
