A Fellowship evening is planned for Friday, February 6. The venue to be announced. Stay tuned for further information.
A Spring Fling Fundraiser/Fellowship Dinner is in the initial planning stages for April. It will be held in the Salvation Army Haven of Hope, catered by Charlotte's Catering. More information will be provided later. If interested in assisting please contact Ron Okumura.
A leadership event is being planned for sometime in May. The Regina Club and Eastview will work together to bring in small businesses. There will be a guest speaker on "A.I in the Prairies". If you are interested in helping with the event please let Jayna have your name.
FUNDRAISING TIPS FROM THE R.C. OF SAN MATEO, CALIFORNIA
President Jayna welcomed everyone to the meeting and began with the Land Acknowledgement. Today's program was a video prepared by the Rotary Club of San Mateo, California on their methods for Club fundraising. The speaker was Jeff Lowenstein who is instrumental in organizing events for his club. The Club was established in 1910 and currently has a membership of 155. They raise funds for their club, for their Foundation and for the Endowment Fund. Their focus is on youth programs and scholarships, senior housing and community fund transfers that help the whole community. The club raises $40,000 annually. They run specific campaigns such as a car show, a fun run among others.
They decided they needed to use some Clubrunner tools which proved not to be as flexible and did not provide adequate marketing opportunities. They searched for a better platform that met their needs at the same time increasing donations.
They promoted their campaigns for 5 weeks. Fundraising for scholarships was focused on members mainly by email. Students were introduced at in person meetings and showed videos of their stories. They built a list of donors and marketed to them and in the following years the list grew. The success of the events was due to the ease of setting up the computer registration and ease for donors. Jeff's advice was to find the right tool.
Following the presentation, discussion from Eastview members suggested computer generation for donations and tax receipts should be considered. Eastview's efforts to develop a Foundation in the past were unsuccessful. Further discussion will take place. This insight on San Mateo's success in fundraising was interesting. Thank you Jayna for organizing this presentation.
What impact can one donation have?
$3 is the average cost to fully protect a child against polio.
$50 can maintain water filters to help fight waterborne illness.
$200 to develop work opportunities by replacing livestock for people impacted by disasters.
