Past President Jack Wozniak called the meeting to order, welcomed members and Guests and introduced and extended a warm welcome to Regina Eastview President Jean-Marc Nadeau - there was wild, albeit "muted" applause;
PP Jack called on PDG Peter Neufeldt for a very important announcement. Peter advised that our Club's nomination of Jean-Marc to serve our District as District Governor in 2022-2023, was enthusiastically supported by our members and equally so by the District Board and District Clubs. CONGRATULATIONS, Jean-Marc;
Last week's guest speaker, Greg Podmore, provided the following Websites to access additional information on Guatemala Literacy Project (https://www.guatemalaliteracy.org/); and, Canadian Friends of Cooperative for Education (https://coeduc.org/CanadianFriends/), established to promote Cooperative for Education in Canada and provides those sponsoring a student or supporting the program the opportunity to claim their donations on income tax.
Jean-Marc (file photo below) was gracious in his acceptance of these leadership roles, first as President of Regina Eastview in 2020-2021, along with the District responsibilities as District Governor Nominee. This learning would lead into the District Goverrnor Elect role in 2021-2022 and on to District Governor in 2022-2023. He expressed his appreciation to be selected to serve as Regina Eastview's President, a Club with a strong history of success, a success on which he expects to build. This year's RI Theme, Rotary Opens Opportunites, is most appropriate. However, before expounding on its application, Jean-Marc expressed the need to meet with the Board next week to identify priorities. He observed in every club "membership" is a pillar which will require attention going forward. Similarly, Jean-Marc noted fund raising will present a unique challenge as we explore how resources can be raised in our current and continuing pandemic environment. He concluded his "inaugural" comments by referring to the importance of moving forward on the Club's Strategic Plan. This Plan will be critical as the Club defines its future, knowing such planning brings vision and consistency on how the Club responds to "opportunities"..

President Jean-Marc called on the duo of Treasurer Shannon Windrim and Associate Doreen Pankewich to present the Club's 2020-2021 Budget for members consideration. By way of introduction, Shannon and Doreen noted the budget was structured on maintaining the membership fee at $285.00; a membership of 51 persons; returning to the Delta on September 1st, for 2 meetings per month alternating with ZOOM meetings, and continuing with one monthly "off-site" meetings like we did until Covid 19. We learned the Club ended the 2019-2020 Rotary year with a surplus of just over $7,800.00, some of which would be used to off set the projected 2020-2021 Administrative budget shortfall of approximately $2,900.00. The membership fee for this year remains at $285.00. Funds available for Community, International and Youth projects is down from last year and resources raised from applicable 2019-2020 fund raisers will be distributed to the 3 service areas in equal amounts of $10,300.00 each.
The motion to accept the Budget was not opposed.

The Family of Rotary
Sir Clem Renouf, 1978-79 RI President, who helped propel Rotary toward its top goal of eradicating polio worldwide, has died at age 99.
In 1979 on a flight home from the Philippines, Renouf read a magazine story about the eradication of smallpox. He wondered if Rotary’s new Health, Hunger and Humanities (3-H) Grants could be used to eliminate another disease.
This is a must read for every Rotarian committed to Polio Eradication.
