ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • Next week's Regina Eastview noon meeting is "off-site". We will meet at Regina Skills and Trades Center, at 1275 Albert Steet. If you did not sign up at the meeting today and you are going to be at the meeting, you must contact Clarence Krause at c.dkrause@sasktel.net, before 12 noon on Tuesday, Nov 5th. Clarence's warning, "No call, no food"!
  • Chair of Youth Services, Ann Grahame advised us that our Rotary Exchange Student, Sofia Mandala, found it exceedingly difficult to take full advantage of her exchange experience and has returned to her home in Italy.
  • It is Holiday Ham Selling Season and Past President John Van Koll is encouraging members to take advantage of  all our social media outlets to make this an improved fund raising experience for the Club. Starting next week he will be calling for weekly sales reports. Let us expand our sales out-reach so we can turn the profit into a broader base of projects.

Rotary Online - Unlimited Possibilities

Regina Eastview's Director of Public Relations, Jenna Raimbault, used a number of power point slides to demonstrate the impact our Rotary Club can have if we increase our "on-line" presence. As a relatively new member in the Club, Jenna took on a significant public relations role and is working hard to make our members more technically wise. In her opening observation today, Jenna suggested that we are in the business of catching up and based on what we have in place right now, we’re still 10 years behind everyone else. She said, "I think that sometimes people think technology is a trend and that it’s not a big deal if we adopt it. In reality, choosing to avoid adopting technology creates a barrier for everyone else to participate in our programs, support us and join us. This is not a trend, this is reality.

Jenna was very clear, enhancing technology does not stop and if we fail to fully adopt technology, we will be, "on the outside looking in".
Jenna's Slide Demonstrates the E-Commerce size and Impact
In using the above slide Jenna drew attention to the place technology has created for itself in the commerce of our country. The extent of on-line shopping is a surprise to many and has set up a new "life-line" for delivery services. Jenna indicated that 84% of "on-line" purchases are "impulse buying". Why is this important for Rotary? Well for one thing, it opens an opportunity for making Rotary a better known and appreciated service organization.
She pointed out that as Rotarians, we traditionally have gone to our friends for support of programs and fundraisers. However, we have to be careful as our friends can begin to feel tapped out, and as a result we Rotarians have to dig deep into our own pockets. What would happen if all of Eastview’s 55 members called 10 friends each? We would reach 550 people! This means we are missing out on 99.7% of opportunities to connect with our community.
  "99.7% of the Regina is waiting for us to connect with them!"
Jenna shared the impact of improved marketing on the Adventure in Agriculture Program where, on top of social media campaigns, the student application process has moved from paper application forms to an one-line registration. The number of applications as of today is 25, up from 18 and 16 the last two years. Improved program materials to Rotary Clubs has seen 3 new clubs involved; 3 new sponsors are on board; 3 returning sponsors have increased their sponsorship dollars. This is a result of enhancing the sponsorship package and better demonstrating the sponsorship value to our industry partners.

Jenna concluded her comments by asking us to make sure all the events Regina Eastview hosts are on the Club's Website and are on members' Facebook, and other social media outlets. These actions have the potential to expand our membership and increase the funds we raise.

Thank you, Jenna.

  • Peter Neufeldt was gracious in sharing happy Dollars to recognize the RC of Regina Industrial Parks's 35th Anniversary Celebration last evening - 35 years is a "big deal";
  • Jenna Raimbault was happy to be back and to have the opportunity to share a picture of the Club's expanding  PR activity;
  • Allen Hillsden has a vision of the Blue Bombers meeting the Roughriders in CFL's Western Final;
  • The NHL Winter Classic in Regina last weekend had Paul Daba Smiling;
  • Looking at the family of Rotary, John Van Koll's Mom is recovering from recent surgery and he is confident that she might well take up jogging;
