THE NEW 'DOG PAAWS' ORGANIZATION WITH CO-FOUNDERS, MAVIS AND AYRIANNA!
In November 2023, Mavis Oleson and Ayrianna Hrenyk started the organization, Dog PAAWS, which stands for Pet Assistance and Walking Services. Dog PAAWS pairs up seniors and those with mobility issues with a volunteer who will walk their dog and provide pet assistance free of charge. Mavis had been a volunteer with the Humane Society and Ayrianna, a new University graduate had experience with Regina Housing. Both loved dogs.
They asked themselves Why are we doing this? The answer is as follows: Research has proven the amazing impact that dogs have on the physical and mental wellness of a person overall; they are therapeutic and naturally great companions. They help with easing symptoms of mental health issues, but physically assist in lowering blood pressure. These women love dogs and want to give back to the people who have shaped our community, and they understand the importance of preserving the human-animal bond.
About Dog PAAWS
What are they doing now? They are fund-raising--holding silent auctions, receiving donations, giving presentations and creating matches as well as brainstorming about the future.
THANK YOU MAVIS AND AYRIANNA FOR THIS IMPORTANT COMMUNITY SERVICE.
