July 23, 2026 was a unique setting for a Regina Eastview not so regular, ‘regular meeting’. We gathered in the Regina Public Library’s Sunrise Library location at 6:30 P.M. Thirteen members of the Club attended and together we set the stage for experiencing Regina Eastview in a different way – there was minimized formality, the scene was casual and comfortable, no speaker, Regina Eastviewians all. Free and easy was the theme, so much so that recent grandparents felt the freedom to talk about their respective grandchild - important conversation and the setting fit the opportunity. For some of the meeting was within walking distance – not so for others because, ‘they had to drive right across the City’. Peter Peters noted that since their family left Melfort, Saskatchewan in 1977,this was the first time he walked to a regular weekly Rotary meeting, and seemingly it felt good.
Four tables of three set the stage for President Jayna to introduce one focus of this gathering. This would be a strategic planning opportunity for our club following up on PDG Wayne suggestion that each club should have a strategic plan which naturally included specific GOALS. We knew in advance that our VISION would be consistent with that of RI. So, our task was to respond to 4-phases: Phase 1-Determine our status - by answering in this question – How is our Club doing?; Phase 2-Develop a vision – by answering the question - What do want our Club to be like?; Phase 3-Make a Plan by answering the question – How can we achieve our vision?; and, Phase 4-Track our progress – by answering the question - How close are we to our goals?.
Having access to Tim Hortons coffee and muffins, chatter in the room intensified. Each table reported on the conversation which had taken place and important observations were advanced. Scribbled notes from the four tables were gifted to our President for review and interpretation.
The highlight of the meeting was that as we talked and listened to each other, President Yinka’s observation about, being reminded why we are here, became real. Two more Summer Meetings are scheduled, please choose to attend, and be come part of Regina Eastview's inspiration.

RIPPLE EFFECT RIDERS RIDING FOR CHARITY
July 25, 2026 saw the 15th ride Peter Neufeldt and Doug Mortin have coordinated to raise funds for District 5550's Ripple Effect Program. In this year's ride, which clocked in excess of 400 km on Saskatchewan highway #'s 1, 10, 35, 15, 20, and 11, got the four Bikers and one Auto from Regina back to Regina, on a really hot summer day. Following the ride there was the traditional back yard barbecue, this year held at the Mortin's.

Doug and Peter have been key and are the heroes of this fund raising initiative. By attracting biking enthusiasts, to simply pay for the opportunity to do what they love to do (ride their bikes), while inviting friends and family to make donations to this ‘charity’, has contributed to the success of Regina Eastview's participation in this basic education success story in Guatemala.
Hats off to this lady and these gentlemen.

FELLOWSHIP HIGHLIGHTS
Evening meeting allowed daytime workers to participate share insights, become an appreciated member of the Club.
Deitre Powell, Oyiboka George and Sephina Pindar, who all have day jobs, and are unable to attend noon hour meetings, added a useful perspective to our discussion.
Doug and Peter will share highlights from Saturday's Ripple Effect Ride another day. However, for me Biker Dedication, must be noted. Lorenzo is from the Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout in Northwestern Ontario. By the time Lorenzo gets home this afternoon he will have biked over 2,050 km, just to participate in a 400 km ride.
