CHANGEOVER CELEBRATION: ROTARY CLUB OF REGINA EASTVIEW 2026-2027

It was of course a celebration reflective of a Rotary Family gathering consisting of a ‘social adjustment’ time which varies in length from person to person. However, when President Jayna took to the podium minutes to six we knew the dinner call was next on the Agenda. In her usual welcoming charm President Jayna made the 39 Family members happy we were in the room. She reminded us that ‘change-over’ is not a total replacement, rather it is a process where tasks and roles are assigned and/or reassigned to strengthen the Club in our business of 'doing good in the world'. All the while offering new experiences to appreciate the vast array of opportunities Rotary membership can provide This is a process where we thankfully recognize the gifts that members have given to the club and to welcome their replacements who will be the team taking us through 2026-2027. In preparation for the anticipated Banquet Meal, the President invited Peter Peters share a blessing.

Following a fantastic meal served by delightful gifted Restaurant Servers, President Jayna resumed her leadership role and moved us from a year where Rotary rallied under a banner to Unite For Good, to President Yinka's crafted follow-up vision to Create Lasting Impact. As an introduction to this year's Rotary Theme President Jayna invited our Club's Assistant District Governor (ADG) Allen Goudie, a member of the Rotary Club of Regina, to bring greetings from DG Warren Thompson and comment on our 2026-2027 Theme. ADG Allen indicated President Yinka's theme was highlighted in the July issue of the Rotary magazine. It reminds us that individual member involvement is key to our success, that change is the constant normal, and that our actions must reflect a focus on peace and peace building. Creating Lasting Impact has to do with focusing on membership and specifically looking to increase membership up to 1.25 million Rotarians and more than 125,000 Rotaractors by 2030. Every Rotarian has a hand in achieving this result.

President Jayna thanked Regina Eastview members retiring from the Board to assume other responsibilities in the Club, and then she introduced the new Club Officers and Board members for the 2026-2027 years. See Below.

In concluding the evening President Jayna touched on the highlights of the first half of her 2-year presidency term. She indicated, that by taking advantage of the skills and talents of the people in the Regina Eastview ‘room’, wonderful things happened in the club, in the community and far beyond. World Polio day under Toshi's guidance, was a special evening where fund raising was an important component. This was followed by Ron Okumura's orchestration of  the Spring Fling, a youth focused fund raising event that supported the local community through the Salvation Army's Backpack Program and the the international community through the Ripple Effect Program. Jeanne Alexander's gave the Club special visibility in the media and when coupled with our involvement in the A I On The Prairies seminar, Rotary was made visible in the community.

Thank you President Jayna for leading us successfully through 2025-2026, let us keep on keeping on, and make 2026-2027 another banner year.

A great evening with wonderful people.
