In keeping with, now established Regina Eastview practice, the third Thursday of each month is the Club's monthly Business Meeting, and so November 18, 2021 is such a day. It was appreciated that 20 plus members choose this as an important Rotary day.

A TRF Canada Overview
THE ROTARY FOUNDATION
    Rotary members and friends of Rotary, support the work of The Rotary Foundation through voluntary contributions, which help fund service projects in Canada and global initiatives.  Rotary’s philanthropic activities provide the financial resources necessary to implement Foundation programs, which improve the lives of millions of people throughout the world.
    The Rotary Foundation Canada receives donations and invests Annual Funds on a 3-year cycle and invests the capital of Endowment gifts. TRF Canada pays out district and global grants and earnings from Endowment funds. TRF Canada carries out a variety of activities to support the work of Rotarians and Rotaractors. Financial reports are posted at www.trfcanada.org.
A TRF Call to Action
While November is Rotary Foundation Month in Rotary, it should be understood "doing good in the world" is not a "one month out of 12" event. It is in reality an every month challenge. This is one of the reasons Club Rotary Foundation Director, Gail Bradley, has arranged for PDG Eva Vida, Vice Chair of Rotary Foundation Canada, to be our Guest Speaker on January 27, 2022. PDG Eva is a Rotary Foundation guru and you will want to hear her as she shares her TRF insights. Mark your calendar today.
The Family of Rotary
    President Pat invited us to a moment of silence in memory of Lloyd Rogers, who passed away on November 8, 2021. Lloyd joined Eastview in 1971, and he and his wife Mary were an integral part of the Club until Lloyd's health deteriorated to the extent he was no longer able to attend, at which time the Club was pleased to award Lloyd Honourary Membership.
     Lloyd's Rotary Classification was Realtor - Commercial, which did not do justice to his extensive "Corporate", and "Non Corporate Involvements". In this latter category, Lloyd's, Rotary International Service as the District Governor's Club Extension Representative, on two occasions is most noteworthy. Selected for this task by District Governor (DG) Sam McKee in the Chartering the Rotary Club of Regina Industrial Parks in 1984, and by DG Glen Stinson, in the Chartering of the Rotary Club of Regina South in 1986.
    This action has been of significant benefit to the Regina Community, and through the work of Rotary International around the world. Rest in Peace, Lloyd Rogers!
    Please keep Mary and the Rogers family in your thoughts and prayers.

    The Gaastra’s, Mortin’s and Peters appreciated joining the family and friends of Laurence Vigrass in the Celebration of Laurence's Life on November 12, 2021.
    We learned many things about the Vigrass family and the high esteem in which he was held within the Geology faculty and University of Regina.

FELLOWSHIP HIGHLIGHTS
  • Peter Peters was called on to fill the Sergeant-At-Arms role in the absence of Richard Schwan;
  • Peter tried to follow the famed Richard in his approach to educating members present on all things Rotary - except this week it was limited to things "Regina Eastview";
  • The Club's Director of Membership was unknown; some members were puzzled by the name of our Weekly Bulletin although the Editors were known; our District "number" was remembered by new member Al Hoeft; and, the Acting Sergeant needs to find out the number of Clubs in District 5550; the Club's Treasurer was correctly identified as was her Assistant; the Club's President Elect was also identified correctly; The member who "coined" the phrase, "Rotary Ready", stumped a number of members;
  • Sadly, limited funds were generated through the above less than impactful approach;
  • However, thanks to Ann Grahame, Peter Neufeldt and Jeff Barber for reminding us that we can experience Rotary's Motto of Service Above Self as either the extender or its recipient - thank you all.
  • Have a great week everyone.
