THE NEW GLOBE THEATRE WITH HEATHER ERVIN
President Jayna welcomed everyone to the meeting and provided the Land Acknowledgement. Three of the members who had been to the previous Club meeting at the Sunrise Library provided a brief overview of the discussion on providing our individual stories on how we entered Rotary and how Rotary has changed us.. Jayna hopes to have more members provide their story. R.I. President Yinka is the inspiration for sharing our Rotary story. Our district is the smallest in the Zone. The goal is for 1200 members to maintain district status. We have shown growth. Retention is an important element in maintaining and growing district size. Greg Baca and Jayna will continue to work on membership growth.
Jeanne Alexander introduced guest speaker, Heather Ervin, Director of Development and Engagement at the New Globe Theatre. Heather has many roles at the Theatre including marketing, communication, fundraising, management of sponsor ships, Government (federal and provincial relations), liaison with Executive and Artistic Directors and more. The Globe is a registered Non Profit organization with 75% of their earned revenue coming through in donations. The Globe is Canada's only permanent theatre in the round. With the help of a dedicated team of permanent, part-time and freelance volunteer workers, the theatre has been bringing a season of theatre to the Regina Community every year since 1966. The Mission of Globe Theatre is to entertain, educate and engage in the art of professional theatre through producing high quality performances, providing theatre education and serving as a valuable part of the Regina Community.
Heather provided a summary of plays to be seen at the Globe from now to next spring. 50,000 people attended the Globe in 2025. The new theatre is 6800 sq.ft. It provides alternate programming to children, teenagers and adults.
Thank you Heather for your enlightening presentation about Regina's new theatre. Best wishes for a successful 2026-27 season.

FROM THE COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMITTEE

Eastview members presented a $2000 cheque to the Salvation Army.

The funds came from the Spring Fling Dinner Fundraiser. $3,618 was raised with this dinner, half going to Salvation Army backpack and the other half going to the Guatemala School project.  The Social Services subcommittee then decided to increase our half of $1,809 to $2,000.
Well done Community Services Committee and great appreciation to the Salvation Army for their work in our community.

FELLOWSHIP HIGHLIGHTS
  • It was good to hear of the plan to share our personal Rotary stories. The fellowship is important to all of us in Rotary, also, to learn of the good that Rotary is doing in the world and to be part of it."
  • Heather Ervin, and the Globe staff, are passionate about Globe Theatre and Heather reminded us of the efforts being made to ‘entertain, educate and engage’ the community in the many projects of the Globe.

                    HAVE A GOOD WEEK EVERYONE.
