ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • It was like a remembered Rotary Club meeting, whole human beings, gathered around tables, talking, laughing, eating, and enjoying each other’s company - "welcome home";
  • In Rotary, July is the month we gather around a new leadership team, a new Rotary Theme but a consistent focus, Service Above Self;
  • And here is an opportunity - historically, the Salvation Army invites Regina’s Rotary clubs to come help pack backpacks for low income children returning to school.  This year they are distributing 500 backpacks and are planning on packing them on August 13th, from 6-9pm, at Haven of Hope (2240 13th Ave);
  • 25-50 Rotarians are required to complete this task, so, if you can help, call Sam Berg, Chair, Community Service Projects at 306-545-0681 - a real "hands on" opportunity.

REGINA EASTVIEW CHANGE-OVER CELEBRATION!

This evening's celebration had a number of foci. In part it was remembering Rotary year 2020-2021. In part it was about honoring our leadership Team as they stick-handled and orchestrated activities, during what will be remembered as a uniquely challenging year. In part it was about welcoming tomorrow with its cohort of enthusiastic leaders and what an artist might refer to as a "clean canvas". And, partly it was about testing our ease about being together after these 15 plus months of ZOOM interaction.
Held at the Royal Regina Golf Course, 52 participants (28 Rotarians; 24 Guests) enjoyed the finest of fellowship, over a superb meal (donated wine on the tables). The standard 50/50 ticket opportunity was provided along with a chance to win one of two (or both) gift baskets. The combined leadership skills of outgoing President Jean-Marc Nadeau, who provided an overview of the year, "that was", while Incoming President, Pat Dell painted a picture of the year to come.
Jean-Marc's highlights of his presidential year included the holding of weekly meetings with a class selection of speakers throughout the pandemic; the inducting of 5 new members; the Valentine GALA with A Twist; the significant monies raised for The Rotary Foundation, Polio Plus and the Motorcycle Ride for the Ripple Effect Program and the 1000 Survival Gardens; the Club's Community, Youth and International Service projects, the latter in Guatemala, Bangladesh and Africa. He also recognized the years of Service Above Self of the following members:
5 years - Laurel Mattison, Jizinge Mwela & Jack Wozniak;10 years - Tania Woroby; 15 years - Richard Schwan; 20 years - Pat Dell; 25 years - Sam Berg; 30 years - Doug Archer; 50 years - Lorne White; 60 years - Gord Wicijowshi.
Jean-Marc also provided recognition pins from the Rotary Foundation to Joyce Butler and Jeff Barber for achieving Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) +3, and PHF +4 status respectively (should you wish to know what this means call me).
The following Honorary Members of Regina Eastview were recognized: Lorne White, Laurence Vigrass, Madhao Thakre, Lloyd Rogers, Shreedhar Jachak, Ralph Goodale and Gary Carlson.
Congratulations to the above for your contribution of time and money!
As an expression of his appreciation for the support he received, Past President Jean-Marc, presented each member of his leadership Team with a framed Challenge Coin History Certificate. The Certificate featured 2 coins - Rotary's Motto coin and a Four-Way Test coin.
Thank you, Jean-Marc, for being our 2020-2021 leader, you made us proud.

President Pat Dell and Past President Jean-Marc Gavel-in-Hand
As a parting gift, PP Jean Marc, presented President Pat with a roll of Toonies which, over the course of a year, she will sacrifice to the the whims of creative Sergeant-At-Arms.
President Pat expressed our collective thanks to Jean-Marc for guiding Regina Eastview through this challenging year. She suggested we should be looking forward to year which has the potential to reflect a similarity to former years. For a start, Pat envisioned the historic Past Presidents sponsored picnic, in their spacious back yard in August - seems Glen has been making ice cream in preparation for this annual Regina Eastview social extravaganza. This coupled with a return to on site (with ZOOM in potential) meetings, would set the stage for an appreciated return weekly to face-to-face fellowship.
President Pat introduced her leadership Team for 2021-2022, and presented each one with a pin featuring this years Theme. As a concluding presentation, she presented the Club's newest PP Jean-Marc, with a very distinct packaged Gavel to control his future imaginary gatherings.
A fine conclusion to an evening of celebration.
Thank you, Pat, Jean-Marc and Associates

We are delighted that Al choose to transfer his Rotary membership from the RC of Edmonton. to have Al and Karen join us for this celebration added to the enthuisiasm for Rotary year 2021-2022.

The Family of Rotary
  • Our gathering was blessed to be joined by former member and continuing good friend of Regina Eastview (and Rotary in general), Jeanne Martinson (left);
  • The excitment for today's celebration was topped by a visit from Honorary Member Lorne White, who ventured to our gathering courtesy of Ron & Mary Okumura. Lorne, a 50 year member of the Club, led us as President in 1981-82. An enthusiastic member of Rotary, Lorne and his late wife Dorothy, were key contributors to Regina Eastview's history and its social fabric. One of the "Fathers" of Regina Eastview's Adventures in Agriculture, Lorne While is a gentleman of the highest order.
